ESTONIAN FOREST REGISTER

An information system that provides a detailed overview of the Estonian forest: where it is growing and under what condition.

In fulfilment of an order by the Republic of Estonia and in cooperation with various state and governmental authorities we have developed an information system that provides a detailed overview of the Estonian forest: where it is growing and under what condition, which species are part of it, how old and how tall are the trees, what is the extent of damages to the forest and so on.

Additionally, the Forest Register also includes forest notifications issued by forest owners to the Environmental Board when they plan to do any kind of deforestation. The employees of various of state institutions can use the Register to conduct expert assessments on reforestation and forest protection as well as any other inspection surveys.

The Forest Register application is divided into three parts: the Forest Portal which is used by forest owners and forestry companies; a web-application for state officials; and the field work tool, which users of state institutions can use to enter the results of any surveys and measurements they conduct directly into the Forest Register.
